Sample studio updates

Small improvements.
Useful new possibilities.

A record of additions to the working samples. Entries describe demo features, not client results.

Remove one line, keep the rest of your order

The café sample now lets you remove every unit of a selected item and its options in one action, instead of clicking minus repeatedly or resetting the whole cart. Other items and pickup preferences stay unchanged. Each control identifies the quantity and variant, and focus moves to a neighbouring line after removal. Removing a line clears the old order review and recalculates the existing eligible GST/PST totals; a new review is required before download. Removal is paused while drink options are being edited. You can add an item again from the menu. This fictional demonstration creates no real order or payment.

Reload or retry the same fictional CSV

The reporting sample now clears its file-picker selection after capturing the chosen file, so you can select that file again after editing the text or encountering a read failure. Linked help explains that a successful load replaces the on-page CSV and requires column review and a fresh report build. Repeated selections keep the existing newest-read protection; cancelling the picker leaves current work unchanged. File-size limits, date filters and stale-download guards are preserved. All processing stays in this page: nothing is uploaded, stored or sent.

An invalid edit no longer keeps an old price preview

The café cart editor now clears its older proposed prices and disables Save when an option edit is rejected, including an over-limit merge or choices changed without an input event. Current cart quantities and totals remain unchanged. Invalid size or milk choices have linked correction feedback; failed submissions focus the affected choice. Input and change events refresh the preview as you correct the options. Keeping current options and resetting remain available, and all existing drink variants, menu prices and GST/PST classifications are preserved. This fictional demonstration creates no real order or payment.

Fictional files for the full reporting workflow

The reporting sample now offers both fixed fictional CSV examples as optional device downloads, so you can try file upload and column mapping without using real business records. One file has standard headers; the other has renamed, reordered columns. Each intentionally includes one duplicate and one invalid amount for review. These practice files are not cleaned exports or blank templates, and downloading them never includes or replaces your current edits. Column choices, filters, report summaries and pending file reads stay unchanged. Separate feedback explains download failures and keeps the on-page examples available. Nothing is uploaded or sent; existing CAD amounts and tax rules are unchanged.

A drink choice is never silently replaced

The café sample now rejects blank or unlisted size and milk choices instead of adding a regular drink by default. A local correction message identifies the affected fields; invalid choices show no calculated price and cannot be added. Each add rechecks the actual selections even if an input event is missed. A rejected add preserves the current cart and any saved review, and correcting the choice restores the listed price without adding an item. Cart updates and drink-editing locks keep the validation in place. All existing menu prices, variants and GST/PST classifications are unchanged. The demonstration creates no real order or payment.

Validation errors cannot keep an old review

The inquiry sample now clears its reviewed state when a draft edit fails validation, while keeping entered text available for correction. Returning to an older draft does not restore approval; the current draft must be reviewed again before download. Review and download actions recheck the current text even when an input event is missed. Failed source builds hide the older handoff, and invalid-draft review revocation is recorded in the bounded local activity history. Fictional routing examples, reset and not-sent labels are preserved. No email, CRM task or reminder is created.

A missing number no longer shows an old estimate

The capacity calculator now clears its previous hours and time-value figures when an input is blank, invalid or outside the existing whole-number ranges. A correction message explains what is needed; correcting the inputs restores the estimate without moving keyboard focus. Incomplete restored inputs and calculation failures cannot leave old figures visible. Zero values remain valid, and scenarios with no time reduction still show zero potential capacity. Fictional example defaults and input ranges are clearly labelled. The monthly formula, CAD formatting and existing no-cash-savings disclaimer are unchanged.

Project briefs follow the details you reviewed

The brief builder now rechecks the current business, workflow and tools before copying text or activating the email-app link. Changed or autofilled details require a fresh preview even if no input event arrives. A modified preview or email link is rejected; your form entries are kept. Delayed clipboard feedback cannot revive cleared actions or overwrite a newly prepared brief. Manual-copy fallback remains available for a current preview. The email recipient stays jay@burrardautomation.com, and nothing is submitted or sent from this page.

A local handoff you can save for review

The support demo now offers an optional text download after you prepare an unanswered fictional question for staff review. The file matches the displayed preview and stays on your device; it is not sent to staff and creates no ticket. Question changes, including edits without an input event, require a fresh preview. Switching examples, checking again and resetting clear older handoffs. Exact-phrase policy answers and their fictional sources are unchanged. Reset or reload clears the page, not previously downloaded files.

Selected times follow the choices you reviewed

The booking demo now ties a selected time to the current service, date and staff choices. Fields changed without an event require a fresh time selection; clicks from replaced availability buttons are ignored. Blank choices show a correction message instead of breaking the preview. Failed reschedules preserve the current confirmation, reset clears it, and expired selections are cleared when the Vancouver booking window advances. Existing tax classifications are unchanged. Everything stays in page memory; no real appointment or calendar change is made.

Release checks protect dropdown choices

Maintenance update: focused checks now reject malformed closing tags, duplicate dropdown values and choices without visible labels before publication. Regression fixtures include the previous pickup-markup defect and confirm that the main release checker rejects it. Valid placeholders, dynamically populated selects and SVG remain supported. Existing sample layouts, interactions and tax classifications are unchanged. These checks do not replace browser testing.

Pickup choices and reviews stay in sync

Fixed malformed pickup choices so all three fictional preferences are proper selectable options. Reviewed downloads now recheck the current cart and pickup even when a change event is missed. Blank choices require correction; edits, returning to the cart and reset clear old review text and disable its download. Controller regression checks cover matching summaries, option merges and the existing five-to-six-cookie GST rule. Tax classifications are unchanged. No order, reserved pickup slot or payment is created.

One CSV limit, pasted or loaded

Pasted CSV text now uses the same 100,000-byte UTF-8 limit as a local file. Accented letters, multi-byte characters, emoji and a pasted byte-order mark count toward the limit; exactly 100,000 bytes remain accepted. Oversized text clears old results and blocks cleaned CSV and summary downloads until corrected and rebuilt. The 1,000-data-row limit, quoting, validation and existing tax classifications are unchanged.

A file read should not undo a newer edit

Deferred-read tests found that an older CSV file could replace newer text or column choices when an edit event was missing. Reads now compare the current fields with their starting snapshot on both success and failure, discard stale results, and preserve changed or cleared column choices. Regression checks also cover reset, pasted text, newer uploads, failed reads and file-size rejection. Data remains local, and downloads still require a current report.

Keep the context with a cleaned report

The reporting sample now prepares a read-only reconciliation preview and an optional text download. It records source-row exclusions, retained and filtered counts, date/category scope and CAD totals without including source rows or invalid-row contents. Downloading requires the current source, column mapping, filters and exact preview. Empty selections can still explain their zero totals. Closing or resetting clears the preview; the file is labelled as a demo, not an invoice or verified audit record.

A report for the dates you need

The CSV sample now filters retained rows by an inclusive date window and category. Blank dates leave either end open. A visible reconciliation separates outside-window and other-category rows, and the totals, chart, table and download use the same selection. Invalid or reversed dates clear stale results and disable downloading. Clear filters restores the full validated report; sample reset also clears the dates. CSV source/mapping guards and formula-safe exports are preserved.

A clearer first step after a sample

Each demo now opens a project brief with a specific pilot-review question and relevant details to bring. Existing notes are preserved, unknown sample links safely use the general form, and edits clear the prepared draft and email action. The homepage inquiry card now makes clear that no message or reminder is sent. The brief remains local until an explicit copy or email-app action; nothing is submitted here.

A policy answer, or a clear handoff

The new customer-support sample matches a small, explicit set of questions to fictional shop policies and shows the source snippet. Unknown wording and account-specific requests require a local staff-review preview. Editing the question clears the old answer and handoff. The demo uses exact phrase rules, not a live AI service, and creates no tickets or messages.

Use the column names you already have

The reporting sample now maps CSV columns to date, category and CAD amount before generating results. Try the renamed-header example, review invalid and duplicate rows, then export the cleaned columns. Data or mapping changes clear stale results; unused source columns are not included in the download.

A visible human-review step

The inquiry sample now requires an explicit review before downloading a reply. Editing the draft clears its reviewed state, and changing the source requires a fresh handoff. A resettable, in-page activity history shows preparation, edits and review without sending messages or creating reminders.

A cart that handles a change of mind

The café sample now lets you edit a drink’s size and milk without losing quantities. Matching options combine into one cart line, with a limit check before saving. A clearer order-review step shows options, pickup and separate GST/PST amounts; returning to the cart keeps the items, and changes require a fresh review.

Try a change of plans

The appointment sample now lets you reschedule or cancel a fictional booking. The current booking stays visible while you choose a new time; availability is checked again before saving. You can discard a proposed change, and cancellation includes a separate review step. Date choices use Vancouver time even when the visitor is elsewhere.

Metro Vancouver and BC taxes

The website now serves Metro Vancouver only. Café and appointment summaries separate GST and PST in Canadian dollars, including the relevant food and hair-service exemptions. Takeaway cookie quantities also apply the GST rule for six or more.

Four workflows to explore

  • Café ordering with menu options, quantity controls and downloadable order previews.
  • Appointment booking with staff selection, sample availability and booking summaries.
  • Inquiry routing with editable follow-up drafts and a simulated reminder.
  • CSV reporting with validation, duplicate review, category filters and cleaned exports.

A clearer homepage, project brief builder, time-capacity estimator, mobile navigation and keyboard focus states complete this release.
